dr evil - one million dollars

Firstly, I apologize for the GIF for two reasons (1) it is 5MB and (2) it is only $1M when the story is about $1B.

Bloomberg reports Google paid Apple $1 billion in 2014 to have Google search as the default search provider in iOS. This is according to a transcript of court proceedings from Oracle copyright lawsuit against Google.

Bloomberg added Annette Hurst, the Oracle attorney who disclosed details of the Google-Apple agreement said a Google witness questioned during pretrial information said that "at one point in time the revenue share was 34 percent." Bloomberg explained that "it wasn't clear from the transcript whether that percentage is the amount of revenue kept by Google or paid to Apple."

Bing recently replaced Apple in Apple's Spotlight search - hard to know what that is worth exactly.

Very interesting to see such information come out.
